What driving experience is required for the 5 day intensive course?

No prior experience is required. The course starts with the basics so is suitable for total beginners. This course is ideal if you are under 21 and a complete beginner. It’s also a great fit to build confidence and quickly gain lots more experience behind the wheel for nervous individuals who have previously had lessons.

Where can the intensive training course be taken?

Courses can be taken with any of our driving instructors across the UK. Enter your postcode when booking to find your nearest instructor and availability for the intensive driving programme. Instructors will pick you up each day from home, school or work, depending upon the times you agree, making it a very convenient training experience.

Is it possible to learn in an automatic car?

Automatic cars shift gears for you based on engine load, speed and other inputs. They make a good choice if you want to concentrate on road skills without worrying about changing gears.

This makes automatic a good choice for the 5 day intensive course if you want a slightly simpler learning experience and to qualify only to drive automatic cars.

Before opting to learn in an automatic car, consider whether or not you will want to drive a manual car in the future. The driving licence for automatic cars does not permit you to drive a car with a manual gearbox. Passing your test in a car with a manual gearbox provides a license that covers you for both manual and automatic.

Do learners need to have passed the Theory Test prior to this course?

No, because the course is offered in two versions. One is suitable for those who have not taken the theory test, the other is for those who have passed it. It is a prerequisite to pass the theory test before taking the practical test. However, it is possible to take driving lessons without having passed the theory test as well.

Is there a driving test at the end of the course?

Where possible, there will be a test at the end of the course. Tests are managed by the Driver and Vehicle Standards Organisation, which is run by the government. Tests are in high demand so we book well in advance and you will know the test date in advance.

We can then schedule your 5 day intensive driving course immediately beforehand, or give you the choice to split some, or all, of the lessons throughout the period until your test. This flexibility puts you in control of learning to drive.

Is there a guaranteed pass?

Nobody is able to guarantee a pass as the test outcome depends upon your driving. But our excellent instructors will teach you to the level needed to pass and provide feedback and guidance on your readiness for the test.

What do you learn on the 5 day intensive driving course - what's covered?

The course covers all skills needed to pass the test – maneuvers, junctions, roundabouts, parking, mirror checks, hazard perception, handling busy roads and more. Each day builds on the last to prepare you fully in just 1 week. The full syllabus for the course is at the bottom of the page.
